Here’s a form of poetry that I am absolutely sure breaks all sorts of copyright laws, but damn it’s fun. A cento poem is lines from other existing poems that are put together to form a whole new one. Think of it like a patchwork blanket. Here’s one I made.
I think that I should never see
A poem as lovely as a tree – Kilmer
But I have promises to keep- Frost
They’d banish us, you know- Dickinson
The only problem with this form is that you have to know a lot of poetry for it to really benefit you. Sadly, I know three poets well, Frost, Dickinson, and Angelou.
