Hope Clark runs a great writing website called Funds For Writers. Basically, if you’re looking to make money writing, this is a site to start with.
I find a lot of good information on this site about short story opportunities. There are anthologies, contests, literary magazines looking for submissions. There’s even a list of agents seeking new clients. In fact, if you’re a regular reader of my site, you might have benefited from some of her postings, because if I find a really good one, I put it on my Markets column on Friday.
A big push on this site is the grants. Did you know you can qualify for grants as a writer? So you can spend less time at work and more time, you know, writing. How cool is that?
I don’t subscribe to a lot of weekly newsletters on purpose, but Hope’s is one that I get and read every week. It’s always got an inspirational story, a quick personal blog, and some new markets to check out for the week. Be forewarned, though, that she doesn’t share my opinion that you shouldn’t have to pay people to consider your work. She will list contests with entry fees.
So this week, check out Funds for Writers. It’s a first step to making 2015 the year you get published.
