Writing Prompt Saturday- Write a Triolet Poem

Time again for a new poetry form, this one’s called a Triolet poem.  French in origin and repetitive like a song, it’s a melodious and versatile form

The basic premise is simple.  It’s an eight line poem with two rhymes.  You take your first line, and repeat it as the fourth and seventh line.  Then you repeat the second line as the final line.  Here’s one I wrote about my favorite thing in the world, coffee.

The sight of steam drifting up

From the rim of my porcelain mug

Few things give such peace to my morning eyes

The sight of steam drifting up

The scent fills my home, the taste lifts my mood

Like the sun outside lifts the gloom of the night

The sight of the steam drifting up

From the rim of my porcelain mug

Not the best, but you get the idea.  If you write one you like, put it in the comment section below.
